In 1992 Ed Ward, Milwaukee Irish Fest founder, created the Irish Music Archives to collect sound recordings and reference materials in order to promote and preserve Irish music in all its forms.
Initial funding came from members of his family, all of whom serve as area coordinators for the festival. The archives are housed in the Irish Fest offices.
We will also be adding info on musical instruments such as fiddles, guitars, guitar pedals, guitar teachers, learning how to play guitar, drums and more.
If you go to our about us page you'll be able to learn a more about the archives. Our website has been over a year in the making and we are excited to finally go on-line.
We originally intended to have our database on-line, but because of some changes we're making to it we will not be able to go on-line with it at this time. It is our intention to make our database accessible to the public at some point in time.
We regret that due to limited time and resources we cannot respond to all inquiries.
We hope you enjoy our website and if you're in Milwaukee we would be happy to give you a tour of the archives.
Coming to the Archives in October 2004 - the American Sheet Music Symposium!
